Europe and Me Magazine has published an interesting article called “Prostitution as as Student Job.” The article discusses the rise of prostitution as a way that many female students are paying their way through college and grad school.
The common theme in the article is that the women are turning to prostitution for the money. However, not all of the women are opposed to this. Some are enjoying the lifestyle and the money, while others feel trapped by it and by financial need.
I think voluntary prostitution should be legal, this would alleviate most risks associated with prostitution. Now, whether it’s ethical is a different question that I’m not prepared to give a full account of, but I think that the girls who are going into prostitution to pay their way through school and who are enjoying it, are making an ethically permissible choice.
