Well, perhaps they’re not worthless, but they’re more of a token gesture.
The study, published by the UK Environment Agency, found the potential of reusable shopping bags to benefit the environment depends on how many times they are used before being discarded. Real-world data show the bags are currently harming the environment instead of helping it.
“Whatever type of bag is used, the key to reducing the impacts is to reuse it as many times as possible,” the summary states. “The paper, low-density polyethylene (LDPE), non-woven polypropylene and cotton bags should be reused at least three, four, 11 and 131 times respectively to ensure that they have lower global warming potential than conventional high-density polyethylene (HDPE) carrier bags that are not reused.”
In other words: Grocery shoppers must use their cloth bags 131 times to see the environmental benefits of using reuseables that global warming alarmists tout. (Link) [Emphasis mine.]
Oops, I didn’t read that closely enough. They’re not a token gesture, they’re worse for the environment. Oh well, I guess the environmentalists will just have to pray at their green altar for forgiveness for their transgression. Environmentalism, is, after all, nothing more than a religion and, like religion, it has no actual evidence to go on, but is rather just “faith” in whatever the devout wish to be true.
I wonder how much evidence it will take to get rid of environmentalism? I mean, really, anthropogenic global warming is all but dispelled as bunk and every so called “green initiative” is worse all the way around (see above). When will people wise up and realize environmentalism is no more than an anti-human religion that doesn’t value the “environment,” but rather hates humanity and wishes it gone?
