Sex Tips #5: Cold Showers

A common cultural idea is that a cold shower can chill one’s sexual desires: a quenching of the flames of passion, if you will.  It makes some sense, especially prima facie, as any man can tell you that cold water does have “shrinking” effect on the penis.  However, while a cold shower might temporarily dampen one’s passion, they can also enhance one’s sex life.

A cold shower feels amazing when you’re very hot and sweaty and you’ve been exerting yourself, as may occasionally happen during sex.  If you’ve never tried this, you really need to.  It can be absolutely invigorating. (Not that I recommend them as a matter of course.)

Although I didn’t know it at the time, when I started writing this piece, I did a little googling and apparently, cold showers are more beneficial than just feeling good after sex.  I found a website called “The Art of Manliness” that describes this major benefit of cold showers:

Increases testosterone. [A study by the] Thrombosis Research Institute […] showed that cold water showers actually increase testosterone production in men. Increased testosterone levels not only boost a man’s libido, but also his overall strength and energy level.

So there you have it, a cold shower can be both pleasurable and can increase testosterone in men.  Really, it’s a win-win!

    Ha, I guess that explains why I felt so much more frequently aroused after recently readopting the cold shower practice. Yes, it does make you a little more frisky afterwards.
